Four layers of protection

Outer shell

In-mold polycarbonate, bonded to the liner rather than glued on. Spreads the impact across the widest possible area instead of concentrating it.

EPS liner — high density

Takes the initial force and crushes predictably. Predictably is the important word: it fails the same way every time, which is what makes the rating mean anything.

EPS liner — low density

The second layer, tuned to absorb residual force at a lower threshold — the energy the first layer passes through.

MIPS layer

A thin, low-friction membrane between the liner and your head. Allows 10–15mm of rotation, redirecting the angular forces that cause most concussions.

Tested beyond the standard

EN 1078 requires a single-impact drop test at 5.42 m/s. We test at 6.5 m/s, from three angles, at three temperatures, on samples pulled from live production rather than from a golden batch. A crash does not follow a standard, so the standard is the floor.
